Oriental Broccoli Slaw Salad

Oriental broccoli slaw salad is a wonderful combination of shredded broccoli stalks, ramen noodles, almonds and sunflower seeds, tossed with a zesty vinaigrette dressing. You can shred your own broccoli stalks, or buy the prepackaged, shredded broccoli stalks which are usually mixed with a bit of purple cabbage and shredded carrot.

Ingredients

    Salad

  • 2 packages ramen noodles
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds
  • 1/2 cup sunflower seeds
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 – 340 gram package broccoli slaw (equals 6 cups peeled,shredded broccoli stalks, 1 medium sized shredded carrot and 1 cup shredded purple cabbage)

Mocha Ice Cream Cake

Ingredients

    Base

  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons margarine
  • 3 cups rice crispies
    • Middle

    • 2 litres ice cream of your choice
      Topping

    • 1 cup whipping cream
    • 2 teaspoons instant coffee
    • 3 tablespoons instant chocolate milk powder

    Instructions

    1. In a large microwavable dish melt together chocolate chips and margarine.
    2. Microwave at 30 second intervals until melted, stirring each time.
    3. Add rice crispies.

Tea Biscuits

Light, flaky tea biscuits are a great addition to any meal! With a little butter and jelly, they also make a fantastic afternoon snack!

Recipe for Tea Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (optional)
  • 1/4 cup cold butter
  • 1 cup milk
  1. Preheat oven to 450° F.
  2. Blend together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.
  3. Add butter and blend with a pastry cutter.
  4. Stir in milk but don’t mix thoroughly. Let it be lumpy.
  5. On a clean, floured surface, knead 10 times.

Supreme Chicken

Tender chicken cooked in a nice sweet onion sauce.

Recipe for Supreme Chicken

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 pounds chicken pieces
  • 1 package onion soup mix
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup ketchup

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients except for chicken, together.
  2. Pour over chicken pieces.
  3. Bake uncovered at 350° F for 1 hour if meat is boneless. If bone is in, bake for 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

Change It Up!

Substitute pork chops for chicken.

Quick N’ Easy Chili

A basic chili recipe that’s easy to make and full of wholesome goodness!

Recipe for Quick n’ Easy Chili

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 – 14 oz. cans beans in tomato sauce
  • 1 – 10 oz. can tomato soup
  • 1 – 16 oz. can kidney beans
  • 1 – 29 oz. can pasta sauce
  • 1-2 teaspoons black pepper, or to taste
  • 2-4 teaspoons chili powder, or to taste

Instructions

  1. Brown ground beef in a skillet, drain excess fat and place ground beef in a large saucepan.
