Refrigerator Pie Crust

A time tested pie crust recipe. This pie crust keeps well in the refrigerator and will actually turn out better if kept cold until use. The added sugar gives it a slightly sweet taste.

Recipe for Refrigerator Pie Crust

Ingredients

  • 5 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 2 cups shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 3 teaspoons vinegar
  • cold water

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, salt, and brown sugar.
  2. Cut shortening into flour mixture until pea-sized.

Easy Buttercream Frosting

A delicious frosting recipe perfect for spreading or piping! Makes a nice large recipe. If you want a very white icing use clear vanilla extract.

Recipe for Easy Buttercream Frosting

Ingredients

  • 6 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • 2 cups butter unsalted
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 – 4 tablespoons whipping cream
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. With an electric whisk mixer, beat together sugar and butter.
  2. Mix on low speed until well blended and then increase speed to medium and beat for another 3 minutes.
  3. Add vanilla and cream and continue to beat on medium speed for 1 minute more, adding more cream if desired for spreading consistency.

Mom’s Turkey Stuffing

A simple time-tested, moist, turkey stuffing recipe.

Mom’s Turkey Stuffing

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf bread, cut into small cubes
  • 1/2 cup softened margarine or butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon sage
  • 1 onion chopped

Instructions

  1. Place cubed bread into large bowl.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix remaining ingredients.
  3. Add to bread and blend until bread is evenly moistened.
  4. Place into the turkey before roasting.
  5. OR If you wish to bake it, add a cup of turkey or chicken stock, or water and mix until bread is moistened. Place mixture into a buttered casserole dish and bake at 350° F for 30 – 40 minutes.
